Loved Him Like a Dad

" I knew Ron for 6 years. He always rang me every week to see if I was OK. And he visited me all so. I loved him like my dad. Rest in peace Ron"

It’s RON

" I got to know Ron many years ago when he was driving for Hanham Taxis.
More often than not it was late at night and me and my friends were a bit worse for wear. You knew you were in safe hands when you saw those leopard skin seat covers. You’d get in and cheerfully exclaim ‘ITS RON!!!’ He was always polite , relaxed and chatty. Everybody knew him in the area , or so it seemed. He was shown the same level of respect as he showed his annoying drunken customers . He had the patience of a saint. No one gave him any trouble though , we were always on our best behaviour. I can’t remember any of the other taxi drivers from back then, only Ron. In recent years I haven’t had a need for late night Taxis , but I still used to see him driving around and would always point him out to whoever I was with. He will never be forgotten. What a gentleman. RIP Ron.

Happy

" Ron always used to pick me and my former colleagues up from Bowlplex after we'd finished a late shift and often drove us to or from town. I never once saw Ron without a smile on his face. He was the nicest, happiest gentleman you could ever meet. I loved his taste in music and car décor. Ron will sadly be missed by a lot of people. God Bless you Ron."

Top taxi driver

" Ron took me into town a few times many years ago. I couldn’t skip this page when I saw it on Bristol live. I remember having a really fun taxi ride into Bristol a few times. I took some pics. Sorry for your loss. Ron was a top bloke."

My Dearest Friend

" My Dearest Ronald. So many memories and tales to be told. Who would know when we first met you would remain my friend for 35 years. You were my friend my Brother and confidant . Always here for me and mine. When you first walked in to Hanham Taxis , you hadn’t long left Bendix. You were Friendly chatty and willing to work hard. My husband and I hadn’t long been running the business and were thrilled to have you on board. You were the Best of the Best Ron. You worked long and hard year after year. You built up a large following. Lots of customers always wanted Ron. Your car always smelling fresh clean. Reggae music and leopard print covers , mints and laughter. That was our Ron. Friend to so many. Loved by all . Over the years Ron we have loved and lost so many others along the way. I look back and remember them all. You were the very best. If Andy were here with you and me we would sit together and reminisce about all the fantastic and absurd going’s on. In fact we always said we would write a book Ron! If I could put pen to paper and indeed write that book. You would appear in most of those pages and have a couple of chapters. Our little girl Kelly was only 5 when you came into our lives and is now 40. A long time to be her uncle Ron. Thank you for being there for us all over the years. A cherished and beloved friend. We shared a spiritual bond and often talked about our love for the Lord. I know I will see you again as Our Fathers house has many Mansions. Till we meet again my dear Brother . Keran and Kelly. Love to Barbera Sophie Boys and Families"
